BBC Filming at Dover’s Drop Redoubt

The BBC have just spent two days filming a documentary of ‘The Lost Commando Raid’ at the Drop Redoubt, Dover. This is the story of Operation Abercrombie, a raid led by Lord Lovatt on the French Town of Hardelot in 1942.

The idea for the documentary was inspired by Phil Eyden’s book entitled ‘Dover’s Forgotten Commando Raid’ and his research into WWII graffiti left by commando’s based in the Drop Redoubt the night before the raid.

The documentary will be broadcast later this year and will include interviews with Phil and also with relatives of some of the commando’s who took part, tracked down by Phil as part of his research.

Copies of his book are available from the Western Heights Preservation Society.
