Thanks to all volunteers who helped on the very productive May 17th workday at our fabulous Drop Redoubt fort!
Tasks accomplished included:
– Moving rubble in Caponier 4 in preparation for new flooring
– Painting the wooden parts of the casemates
– Painting the crowd barriers
– Mowing, strimming and weeding the Drop Redoubt site
– Weeding at the Grand Site and North Entrance areas
– Delivery of two history tours to the public
– Generally preparing the fort for our Open Weekend next month
The Grand Shaft was also open and welcomed many visitors.
We are VERY excited to open up the fort next month – 20th and 21st June – for our annual big Open Weekend! The Open Weekend is the only time the Drop Redoubt is open to the public without booking. There will be entertainments all weekend, details can be found HERE!
If you would like to volunteer with us at the Western Heights Preservation Society, details of that can be found HERE!
Besides the upcoming Open Weekend we are still running history tours – if you have missed out on booking a tour so far this year, check our Calendar of Events for info and then email us at whpstours@gmail.com to book spaces.
