Today at The Grand Shaft we hosted guest performers Tom White and friends of Sound Emergence, who entertained a crowd of visitors with an atmospheric soundscape designed to relax and enrich the spirit. Visitors were encouraged to sit on or walk around the Shaft’s three spiral staircases while enjoying the sounds and feelings of the interactive performance.
This event is #8 of their themed ‘sound pilgrimage’ of different coastal venues around East Kent, titled ‘This Place Meant’.
About the artist: Tom White is a Ramsgate-based artist focusing predominantly on sound-based practices such as live performance, installation, recordings, composition for dance and film. He is interested in the physicality and phenomena of sound; how it can be felt by the body and experienced in architectural space. Click here for further details.
