WHPS volunteers returned to St Martin’s Battery on Sunday 15th March, as part of our continued effort to maintain this site and keep at bay anti-social behaviour, litter and overgrowth.
The weather was favourable and the fresh air, activity and good company was enjoyed by all.
A wide selection of volunteers took part with ages varying from 13 to 79! As with all workdays, all volunteers are welcome of any age or physical skill level – we can always find something for you to do!
Two main tasks accomplished on this workday were:
– Clearance of vegetation overgrowth directly in front of the battery
– Weeding and tidying of the old garage site to the rear of the battery
The Grand Shaft was also open and enjoyed many visitors.
Next month sees our return to the Drop Redoubt fort and the return of our history tours – don’t forget to book your places by viewing our calendar for the dates/times and then emailing us at whpstours@gmail.com to reserve.
We hope to see you then! 🙂
