WHPS Workday Report – January ’26

Our first workday of 2026 saw us back at St Martin’s Battery on Sunday 18th January, to continue maintenance of the area. This site gets quickly overgrown and accumulates litter and as a prominent point of the defences with fantastic views of the sea and port of Dover, it is important to keep it looking it’s best.

A large and enthusiastic workforce of volunteers took part in a big clean up and accomplished the following tasks:
– Vegetation and scrub clearance
– Litter removal
– Maintaining a bonfire
– Clearing and tidying the steps, walkways and between the batteries

We plan to continue to improve this area and nearby on future workdays – please consider volunteering your time and join us in the fresh outdoors for some exercise, friendly company, and the satisfaction of knowing your efforts are helping some of Dover’s most precious historic sites.

As ever, enormous thanks to all the volunteers that helped on the day. Don’t forget you can support us in other ways too such as by donation or by sharing news of the work we do.

Our next workday will be Sunday 15th February and you can check our Calendar of Events for details of this and other future dates.
