WHPS is a volunteer organisation and depends entirely on people giving their time and skills to the Society in support of our aims of publicising, preserving, reinstating and opening areas of Dover’s Western Heights.

We welcome input from anyone who wants to help out and can accommodate most ages, abilities and skills in some way or another. We are particularly keen to involve local youth organisations in both preserving and enjoying the special places that the Western Heights offers and whatever your motivation for wanting to help, we are sure we can accommodate you!

If you want to get fit, work outdoors, help preserve a unique part of Dover’s Heritage, fund raise, carry out research or just come along for a few hours at weekends and get dirty then we can help!

So if you fancy giving some spare time, ideas, energy or even just moral support then there are a number of options that may suit.

Become a member of the Western Heights Preservation Society
WHPS offer a membership scheme which enables you to be a part of the Society, enjoy member privileges and be a part of a much wider community that supports us in our work.

It comes with the following benefits
Free entry to our open weekends at the Drop Redoubt held every year.

Regular email newsletters throughout the year packed with interesting Dover related history articles, workday updates and information about events.

Priority booking and early notification of special events such as the once a year North Entrance openings.

Lifetime membership with no renewals

The cost is a mere £5 per person and with no annual fee is incredible value for money. The entire membership fee goes towards meeting the aims of the society so you can be assured that by becoming a member you have helped support WHPS in all our activities.

To apply download the application form here and complete as clearly as possible then post the completed form and your £5 fee to our postal address;

The Western Heights Preservation Society
c/o Dover Museum, Market Square, Dover, CT16 1PH.

Once processed you will receive a welcome email, your personal membership card and copies of the two most recent newsletters followed by regular quarterly newsletters with updates on our work and interesting history/site specific or related articles.

Please note that we cannot post newsletters as the cost of postage means that we couldn’t maintain a low cost lifetime membership benefit whilst doing so.
